BBC iPlayer:
Bring on the Box Set

Digital & Social

Christmas is the best time of year.

All the food, all the drink and all the TV.

Whether it’s the big shows that the family gather to watch,

the chance to finally watch that drama all your mates have been talking about,

escaping dishwashing duty with a few cheeky Louis Therouxs,

or getting some extra big Christmas belly laughs from some of the best of BBC comedy.

There’s no perfect accompaniment to Christmas than iPlayer.

When Christmas comes, bring on the boxsets.

I was challenged with creating the social assets to catch the attention of the younger audience, featuring characters from BBC hero series, and keeping a certain spark and a playful tone of voice and design.

Introducing:
The Christmas Wallpapers, which, in a series of Instagram Stories, show the ‘unwrapping’ of our OOH lines in a digital format.

WALLPAPERS

We created a carousel of wallpapers out of the best BBC Series (Killing Eve - Doctor Who - Fleabag - Wanderlust), and we allowed the user to set them up like the Christmas Wallpaper of the mobile phone.

UNWRAP THE CHRISTMAS CARD

As BBC thought of you this Christmas, we wanted to allow our audience to unwrap a little present from us. So we made a carousel of funny-punny Christmas Cards using the most popular BBC Drama and Comedy's heroes.

Using the wallpapers above, the unwrapping reveals the Christmas Card underneath.

To drive the audience to iPlayer, each individual Christmas Card had been linked - through the swipe up feature - to iPlayer Content.
